Students participate in hands-on challenges across various engineering fields, including mechanical, chemical, and aerospace engineering. The program emphasizes applying the engineering design process to test, evaluate, and improve designs. Participants will learn how to utilize engineering design process principles, acquire industry-related design and technical vocabulary, and develop collaborative skills for working in peer groups and with partners. The camp also provides an opportunity to navigate UW campus labs and facilities. New projects and activities are introduced each summer, ensuring a fresh experience for returning students.
A typical day involves engaging in hands-on engineering challenges, applying design principles, and collaborating with peers on projects. Sessions are either 9 a.m.–12 p.m. or 1 p.m.–4 p.m.
This course is ideal for incoming sixth to eighth graders who are curious about engineering and enjoy hands-on problem-solving and collaborative work.
