About this camp

The SeattleStatGROWS program at Fred Hutch is an 8-week paid summer research internship designed for undergraduate students interested in statistics and data science research. Participants are paired with a mentor to complete projects in these fields, gaining hands-on experience in biomedical data science. The program emphasizes intensive R programming training and statistical foundations, alongside professional development workshops covering topics like graduate school applications, scientific writing, and resume review. Students also engage in scientific talks and social activities, fostering a supportive community and providing opportunities to network with researchers and faculty. The program aims to increase awareness and interest in careers in statistics and data science research, particularly for students from backgrounds underrepresented in biomedical science.
