The Private Pilot Ground School (PPGS) is a fast-paced, three-week summer course designed for Washington State rising 9th-12th grade students interested in aviation. Students will delve into the fundamentals of being a professional pilot, building a strong foundation in aeronautical knowledge. Key topics include aerodynamics, aviation weather, flight instruments, and navigation, all crucial for successfully passing the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) private pilot written exam. The program incorporates hands-on activities such as flight simulation training in the Museum's state-of-the-art Aviation Learning Center simulator lab and collaborative group projects. Participants will also develop crew resource management skills and network with diverse aviation professionals through meet-ups and engaging field trips to locations like Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The curriculum leverages the Museum's extensive galleries, exhibits, and resources, providing a comprehensive and immersive learning experience. Students can earn up to 0.5 high school CTE credits and 5 college credits through the Puget Sound Skills Center.
